Boot FREDAG

Freitag addresses two crucial issues of a boat through the possibility of folding it: storing and the transportation towards the water. These features are enabled by its firm triangular and flexible joints, which operate like film hinges. In its assembled state these elements stabilize each other, which leads to an overall stability. The assembly and disassembly of Freitag is proceeded through 4 rotation locks and takes less than a minute. To dismantle the boat, it only has to be folded twice, after which it reaches the packaging size of 20 x 70 x 140cm. A prototype was built on a scale of 1:1.
